Think Plastic Brazil announced the date of the next edition of the World Plastic Connection Summit, an event that seeks to leverage the export of the Brazilian plastic industry

The third edition of the World Plastic Connection Summit will be taking place on August 21-24. This year’s event promises to bring together awards, lectures, business roundtables, and a trend guide. The plastic industry ceremony is held in a hybrid format, taking place in person in São Paulo and virtually on the Think Plastic Brazil platform.

According to Marcos Francischelli, director of SommaPlast, who attended the event in 2022, the World Plastic Connection Summit is a one-of-a-kind event. “Normally, we have events on plastics and events on the international market being held separately, while at the Connection Summit, the two subjects are presented together,” he said.

The 2022 event featured over 50 countries, which attended both in-person and in the online format. Around 14,000 hits were recorded during the days of the event. For this year, the expectation is to further expand this audience and offer much more satisfaction to those who participate.

Highlights of the last edition

One of the actions that also stood out at the Summit was the launch of the International Color Trends Guide (Color Trend 2023).

This guide was created to assist professionals in the plastics industry in Brazil and around the world, featuring the signature of world-renowned artist, creator and fashion designer, Alexandre Herchcovitch.

Additionally, the World Plastic Connection Summit also presented the International Yearbook 2022 and seminars on innovation and sustainability in the converted plastics industry.

The International Yearbook 2022 gathered information about the Brazilian converted plastics industry and its internationalization process.

The seminars, in turn, featured the topic “Innovation, Design and Sustainability as a global differentiator in the Brazilian converted plastics industry” and welcomed around 400 people in the two days.

Awards to members

One of the main highlights of the last edition was the World Plastic Connection Award 2022, which honors member companies of Think Plastic Brazil.

One of the companies contemplated by the award was Alfamec, which won first place in the Business Case Award. The company was awarded for demonstrating rapid, solid growth in several countries, such as in its U.S. branch.

Eduardo Carrilho Cabezas, Managing Director of the company, views this award as a motivational element for companies to increasingly seek continuous improvement in their processes and strategies. “We feel honored with our award,” he concluded.

SommaPlast was also awarded. The company won first place in the Development Award category, for the very expressive growth in the company’s export volume. Additionally, it won second place in the Business Case Award, thanks to the construction of a different case model with distributors.

For the director of the company, this was a very positive experience. “We are often not in the habit of celebrating achievements during the year, but the award gave us that opportunity. We managed to stop one day to celebrate the good results and to think of new winning strategies. We truly feel honored.”

In this sense, his wishes for the third edition of the World Plastic Connection Summit are “an event of the same magnitude, with more companies participating in the awards.”
