In the pharmaceutical sector, packaging plays a fundamental role in maintaining the safety and efficacy of medicines, with measures that are essential to meet the strict standards and regulations imposed by agencies such as Anvisa, in Brazil, and the FDA, in the United States, ensuring that the highest quality standards are maintained throughout the pharmaceutical production and distribution process.

In this scenario, Vitopel, associated with Think Plastic Brazil, a portfolio of solutions for the sector of plastic-converted products in the process of internationalization for target markets, carried out through a partnership between ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) and INP (Brazilian Plastics Institute), stands out due to its attention to the demands of the sector.

The Brazilian pharmaceutical sector has shown significant growth. In 2023, the national market was valued at US$ 19.7 billion and is projected to reach US$ 42.90 billion by 2032, according to a survey by Market Research Future®. In addition, there has been a continuous increase in sales in volume (units) in retail: according to Sindusfarma, in 2023 the category grew by 8.15%, and, in the first quarter of 2024, it showed growth of 4.2% compared to the same period of the previous year, according to a report by Shopper Report Farmacêutico prepared by Bnex.

This promising scenario directly reflects the demand for high-performance pharmaceutical packaging. Therefore, Vitopel created the V. Protect line with custom-designed applicator packaging films, with adjustable thickness and weight to meet different demands that are synonymous with safety and integrity, using cutting-edge technology to protect products against any form of contamination, whether by impurities, microorganisms or other unwanted substances.

The integrity of the packaging is also ensured by means of seals or tags that indicate whether there has been any attempt to open or tamper with the product. The films in the V.Tape line, used in the self-adhesive tapes of disposable diapers, for example, are developed with materials that provide high adhesion and resistance, essential for maintaining hygiene and comfort for users, in addition to ensuring excellent anchoring of permanent adhesives, with the possibility of decoration, as needed.

The company is alert to opportunities to use the new generation of high-barrier metallized BOPP films for envelopes designed to meet the stringent standards of the pharmaceutical sector, offering superior protection against moisture, light and oxygen, thus preserving the safety and integrity of medicines.

With the pharmaceutical market on the rise and the constant search for innovation in packaging that meets safety, standards and quality needs, Vitopel positions itself as a strategic partner for the development of sustainable packaging in the pharmaceutical segment.
