The international color trend guide dedicated to the converted plastics industry was honored in the Graphic Design category

Think Plastic Brazil’s international color trend guide for the plastics industry, Color Trend® 2026, was recognized at the Design for a Better World Award 2025 in the Graphic Design category, Publications subcategory. Titled “Dos biomas às cores, do Brasil ao Brasil” (From biomes to colors, from Brazil to Brazil) and authored by architect Marcelo Rosenbaum, the guide presents research grounded in the dialogue between architecture, design, and biomes.

Think Plastic Brazil is a portfolio of solutions supporting the internationalization of Brazil’s converted plastics sector in target markets, carried out through a partnership between ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) and the INP (Brazilian Plastic Institute).

“Receiving the Design for a Better World Award in the Graphic Design category is an extraordinary recognition that validates the internationalization efforts and strategic vision of Think Plastic Brazil. Color Trend® 2026 is much more than a trend guide; it is a solution that connects the converted plastics industry to the cultural and environmental richness of our country. This award reinforces our commitment, in partnership with ApexBrasil and the INP, to promote sustainability, innovation, and Brazilian design in global markets, fostering a more inclusive and conscious future for the sector,” highlights Carlos Moreira, Brazilian Plastic Institute (INP) Executive Director and Think Plastic Brazil CPO.

The Design for a Better World Award celebrates initiatives dedicated to building a better world through creativity. With a vision that transcends preconceived notions of design, the award drives solutions in various areas, fostering a collaborative environment dedicated to imagining a more inclusive, sustainable, and socially equitable future for all. The award features six categories: Product Design, Service Design, Architecture and Cities, Digital, Graphic Design, and Packaging.

During the awards ceremony held on November 27 at the Oscar Niemeyer Museum in Curitiba, the guide received the Curupira Trophy, the award statuette whose design is reinvented each edition by different creatives and studios. In 2025, the statuette was crafted by Design Bridge in glass, chosen for being 100% recyclable, aiming to be more than a design object by celebrating diversity, sustainability, and inclusion.

“Seeing Color Trend® 2026 recognized at the Design for a Better World Award is a powerful confirmation of the role strategic design can play in transforming the industry. This guide was born from the desire to translate, through color, the aesthetic, cultural, and environmental depth of Brazilian biomes. Receiving this award reinforces our conviction that design is a tool for real impact, capable of guiding markets, inspiring innovation, and promoting sustainability,” comments Marco Lobo, Global Green Design Coordinator at Think Plastic Brazil.

COLOR TREND® 2026

One of the projects within the World Plastic Connection Summit® ecosystem, carried out by Think Plastic Brazil, Color Trend® is an international color trend guide with a focus and research based on a Brazilian perspective. Dedicated to the converted plastics industry, it offers a comprehensive palette that guides the sector in the year following its release in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. The 2026 edition is authored by Marcelo Rosenbaum, a renowned and internationally awarded Brazilian architect.

Color Trend® 2026 also highlights innovation in accessibility with see color, a tactile language system that uses embossing, similar to Braille, to enable access to color information for visually impaired individuals (blind, low vision, or colorblind). Reading can be done both visually and by touching the symbols with fingertips, allowing visually impaired people to understand and identify colors in any plastic application, such as household utensils, toys, decorative objects, and medicines, among others.
