The initiative brought together 34 Brazilian companies, promoted 393 meetings, and generated 327 new business contacts; 94% of participants expressed interest in returning to the Chilean market in future actions.

The trade mission organized by Think Plastic Brazil — a portfolio of solutions for the converted plastics products sector in the internationalization process for target markets, created through a partnership between ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) and INP (Brazilian Plastic Institute) — held in Santiago, Chile, between August 11 and 13, resulted in US$ 639 thousand in closed deals and opened new opportunities for Brazilian companies in the converted plastics sector.

In total, 34 companies participated in the agenda, which promoted 393 meetings with potential buyers and commercial partners, generating 327 new contacts. For the next 12 months, expectations reach US$ 3.636 million in business. During the mission, 136 business opportunities were identified, 16 of which have already been closed. These results reinforce the relevance of international prospecting actions to expand the presence of Brazilian companies and establish new commercial relationships in the Chilean market.

In 2025, Brazilian exports from this segment to Chile totaled just over US$ 112 million, maintaining the country as the second main destination for Brazilian products, behind only Argentina. Despite a 16.3% decline compared to the previous year, Chile remains among the main markets for categories such as packaging, films, and housewares.

“Chile has consolidated itself as one of the most dynamic partners open to innovation in Latin America. Geographic proximity and land logistics facilities make Brazilian products highly competitive in the Chilean market,” stated Carlos Moreira, Executive Director of INP and CPO at Think Plastic Brazil.

In addition to the business generated during the mission, Think Plastic Brazil and the Cámara Chileno Brasileña de Comercio (CCBC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), an instrument that establishes a cooperation framework between the institutions and guides joint actions to connect companies and expand commercial opportunities between Brazil and Chile. The agreement seeks to facilitate innovation, boost sustainability initiatives, and open new business avenues for companies in both countries, while creating a bridge for developing future partnerships.

Participants’ feedback was also positive. In the mission evaluation, 88.24% of participants rated the experience positively, with 47.06% declaring themselves “satisfied” and 41.18% “very satisfied.” Furthermore, 94.12% showed interest in participating in a future edition.

The trade mission also builds on actions promoted by Think Plastic Brazil in the Chilean market throughout 2026. In April, during CirclePack 2026, Brazilian companies held 639 meetings, generated 411 new contacts, achieved US$ 2.5 million in business, and projected an additional US$ 13 million for the following 12 months. This series of initiatives reinforces the program’s strategy to expand the presence of the Brazilian converted plastics industry in the country and generate new commercial opportunities.

With deals already closed and ongoing opportunities being monitored, Think Plastic Brazil will continue the prospecting started during the mission, offering support to participating companies to consolidate the commercial relationships established in the Chilean market. It is expected that a portion of the contacts generated during the event will advance into new negotiations and contracts in the coming months.
