Valgroup celebrates 50 years and brings Brazilian plastics expertise to three continents with support from Think Plastic Brazil

A benchmark in plastics production, processing, and recycling, the company founded in Lorena (SP) reaffirms its international expansion driven by technology, innovation, and circularity.

Founded in 1976 in Lorena (SP), Valgroup reaches 50 years as a benchmark in plastics production, processing, and recycling, increasingly focused on its purpose: elevating society’s quality of life. With over 7.5 thousand employees and an industrial presence in six countries across three continents (Brazil, Spain, United States, Italy, Mexico, and Uruguay), the company has built an expansion path that found in Think Plastic Brazil—an internationalization program for the converted plastics industry, created by ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) in partnership with the INP (Brazilian Plastic Institute)—a partner to expand its operations beyond Brazilian borders.

“Exporting is the operation. The most important thing is to understand the culture of each location, the applicable technical standards, and build trust with those on the other side of the world,” explains Eduardo Berkovitz, Institutional Relations and Compliance Director at Valgroup. For the executive, international expansion is linked to the ability to understand the specificities of each market, adapt the specifications of exported products, and build long-term partnerships.

The partnership that opens doors

Think Plastic Brazil has supported Valgroup in its international strategy, expanding the company’s access to markets, events, and potential partners. At global showcases such as the K Fair in Germany, the largest in the plastics sector worldwide, the program’s support helped the company present innovations, validate solutions, and strengthen relationships with international players.

“For us at Think Plastic Brazil, seeing Valgroup reach where it has is proof that the Brazilian converted plastics industry has the technology, capacity, and competitiveness to compete among the main global players,” states Carlos Moreira, Brazilian Plastic Institute Executive Director and Think Plastic Brazil CPO.

Circularity: a strengthening commitment

Circularity is part of Valgroup’s DNA. For five decades, the company has invested in recycling, technology, and innovation to transform plastic, continuously expanding recovery and reinsertion into the production cycle. This commitment continues to guide the company’s future and gains even greater scale with concrete goals: achieving carbon neutrality by 2040 and recycling the equivalent of 100% of the volume of packaging produced.

“Our goal is to advance further into the circular economy. We continue to invest in cutting-edge technology to ensure that plastic returns to the production cycle with maximum efficiency, turning environmental challenges into business opportunities,” says Eduardo Berkovitz, Institutional Relations and Compliance Director at Valgroup.

As it celebrates half a century of operation, Valgroup reinforces a trajectory that combines experience, innovation, and international expansion, taking the expertise developed in Brazil to different markets and contributing to expanding the presence of the Brazilian converted plastics industry on the global stage.

About INP

Founded in 1989, the Brazilian Plastic Institute – INP arises amid the process of globalization and the need to make the plastic market more competitive internationally. Its strength and representativeness are the results of the union of the Brazilian Processed Plastic and Recycling Industry (ABIPLAST), the Brazilian Association of the Chemical Industry (ABIQUIM), and the Union of Synthetic Resin Industries in the State of São Paulo (SIRESP).

As a sectoral technological body, the INP’s goal is to be the focal point for the entire plastics production chain in Brazil. To this end, the body maintains an extensive workforce qualification program, promotes access to the most modern technologies, especially for small and medium-sized companies, and develops Technical Standards so that products with better quality can be manufactured.
