The Brazilian sector of converted plastic products is taking new steps towards consolidating its global presence. Recently, Canguru Embalagens, a company of the Jorge Zanatta Business Group and a member of Think Plastic Brazil, gathered about 60 leaders at its headquarters in Cocal do Sul-SC to present its strategic planning for the 2030 cycle. The meeting marked the definition of guidelines that prioritize governance, technical innovation, and the strengthening of exports.

This internal structuring movement is aligned with the objectives of Think Plastic Brazil, a portfolio of solutions for the converted plastic products sector in the process of internationalization for target markets, carried out through a partnership between ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) and the INP (Brazilian Plastic Institute). The initiative aims to prepare the national industry for the technical and sustainability requirements of the foreign market

Planning and market maturity

The strategic plan projects the company’s positioning for the next five years, coinciding with the milestone of six decades of Canguru’s operation. The development work lasted seven months and involved more than 30 people in immersion workshops. According to Leandro Buciani, responsible for the strategic restructuring of the Jorge Zanatta Group, the established goals aim for business continuity and a positive impact on the community and employee development.

For the sector, the professionalization of the management of member companies is seen as a competitive differential in foreign trade. “Think Plastic Brazil CPO and Brazilian Plastic Institute Executive Director, Carlos Moreira, states: ‘The strategic maturity of a member is Brazil’s best business card abroad. When a portfolio company like Canguru structures its goals until 2030, it is not just organizing production, but ensuring the continuity and reliability required by the most rigorous international buyers'”.

Focus on exports and high performance

Among the priorities listed in Canguru’s strategic plan are increasing market share both in Brazil and abroad, improving service levels, and advancing productivity with sustainability. The company maintains its focus on Flexible Plastic Packaging solutions, seeking a high-performance management model.

The company’s commercial director, Marcelo de Sá, highlighted that the experience accumulated in the export channel in recent years was fundamental for building the new cycle. According to the executive, contact with the foreign market strengthened confidence in the product and expanded the company’s capacity to understand the technical and cultural particularities of each country served.

Institutional commitment The program concluded with a symbolic act: participants signed a manifesto on packaging produced by the factory itself. The material will be displayed at the organization’s headquarters as a record of the commitment to long-term goals.

With the new strategy, the portfolio member signals to the global market the readiness of Brazilian converted plastics to meet complex demands with efficiency and innovation.
