FILDA 2024 generated more than US$ 30 thousand in on-site business for companies associated with Think Plastic Brazil

International Fair

FILDA, the Luanda International Trade Fair, is Angola’s largest international trade event. In its 39th edition, the fair hosted four companies associated with Think Plastic Brazil in the Brazilian pavilion, a portfolio of solutions for the plastic-converted products sector in the process of internationalization for target markets, carried out through a partnership between ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) and INP (Brazilian Plastics Institute).

The presence of Brazilian companies at the fair was encouraged by an initiative by ApexBrasil that fosters business opportunities in Africa. From June to August of this year, ApexBrasil promoted Brazil-Africa Solutions, an international mission to Johannesburg, South Africa, and encouraged the presence of industries at FILDA and the Mozambique International Fair (FACIM).

During FILDA, four companies from Think Plastic Brazil’s portfolio were in Luanda: Copobras, Maxeb, Soprano and Wyda. The action generated 118 business meetings for Brazilian converted plastic industries, which received visitors from Angola, South Africa, Portugal and Italy. On-site deals totaling US$30,000 were closed, and the prospect of generating even greater business is expected, with the expectation of generating US$520,000 in the next 12 months for the participating companies.

According to Carlos Moreira, Brazilian Plastic Institute Executive Director & Think Plastic Brazil CPO, “the presence of members at FILDA 2024 was promoted by ApexBrasil and is aligned with one of the six premises of the new 2024/2028 strategic planning, which is market diversification, with the inclusion of actions in countries in Africa and the Middle East.”

For Regina Dacio, export manager at Copobras, the volume of visitors exceeded expectations and the support from ApexBrasil, before and during the event, was essential. “We had great contacts with clients, prospects and potential business partners. It was possible to gather a lot of information about the market, connect with business partners and conduct very constructive networking to outline the direction to be followed for market penetration”, she says.
