CHECK OUT THE
ACCOUNTABILITY

See below the complete accountability of the actions carried out by Think Plastic Brazil under the current agreement (PS 5-1/2024).

The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) works to promote Brazilian products and services abroad and attract foreign investment to strategic sectors of the Brazilian economy. In order to achieve these objectives, ApexBrasil carries out a variety of trade promotion actions aimed at promoting exports and enhancing the value of Brazilian products and services abroad, such as prospective and trade missions, business roundtables, support for the participation of Brazilian companies in major international trade fairs, visits by foreign buyers and opinion formers to get to know the Brazilian production structure, among other business platforms that also aim to strengthen the Brazil brand.

The Agency also works in coordination with public and private actors to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) to Brazil, with a focus on strategic sectors for developing the competitiveness of Brazilian companies and the country.

Founded in 1989, the National Plastics Institute (INP) was created in response to the globalization process and the need to make the Brazilian plastics market more competitive. Initially, the aim was to strengthen the national plastics industry, diversify the variety of processed products, reduce foreign technological dependence, improve quality and productivity and increase the consumption of plastic products in Brazil.

From 2024, the scope of the INP evolved to focus solely on the process of internationalization and attracting investment. This change reflects the growing importance of the Brazilian plastics sector’s global presence.

INP’s structure is sustained by the union of the different links in the plastics production chain. The first and second generations are represented by the Union of Synthetic Resin Industries of the State of São Paulo (SIRESP) and the Brazilian Chemical Industry Association (ABIQUIM), while the third generation is accounted for by the Brazilian Plastics Industry Association (ABIPLAST). With strong and participatory governance, INP has a General Assembly, an Advisory Board, an Executive Board and a Supervisory Board, which ensure efficient and transparent management.

Governance is supported by strategic and management committees, which monitor and guide Think Plastic Brazil, an initiative dedicated to the internationalization and sustainable growth of the Brazilian plastics sector in the global market.
