Color Trend 2024 bets on Brazil colors as trends for the processed plastic sector

Think Plastic Brazil

The Color Trend 2024 was created to serve processed plastic industry’s professionals in Brazil and in the world, and this year it counted on the creative direction by renowned artist and designer of products Jum Nakao, with co-authorship of Beatriz Abreu.

“It’s an honor to be here today, and I had a great time doing the Color Trend 2024“, said Jum Nakao.

In Nakao view, Brazil is authority when it comes to light and color, thanks to the variety of biomes, like the Amazon rainforest, Pantanal, Caatinga, Cerrado, and the Atlantic Forest, with resources, natural assets and beauties, with ethnic diversity of influences and cultural heritage. Colors in Brazil reflect this multitude, expressing our identity and celebrating our plurality.

That can be noticed in the choice of Arara-Azul and Saí-Azul tones (hyacinth macaw and blue dacnis), both inspired in the plumage of these birds, in addition to the yellow Ipe tone (self-explanatory) and Pantanal (inspired in the region native vegetation). The fruits of the forest, such as guarana and açaí also inspired some of the tones that make up the palette with 28 colors.

“Brazil is the cradle of color exuberance. My wish was to connect people beyond colors. We are a country blessed by the light”, defined Nakao.

The methodology for the guide creation involved the market of processed plastics. Interviews were made with Brazilian companies participating in Think Plastic Brazil program, including manufacturers of Masterbatch (develop the pigments to be used in the manufacture of processed plastic), such as Colorfix, Revora and Engeflex, which collaborated in the creation of the Color Trend 2024.

Think Plastic Brazil’s associated companies that produced the processed plastic pieces, in line with the International Color Guide are: Bral-Max; Dello; Globoplast; Lolly; Nutriplan; Pabovi; Plasvale; Polyplay; Soprano; Spiltag; Termolar; Uz Utilidades; Vasap; and Vasart.
