Combining protection, functionality, and recyclability has become essential for the packaging industry, and this was the focus of Mega Goglio’s participation at Pack Expo International 2026, held in Chicago (USA) from October 18 to 21. As part of the Think Plastic Brazil booth — an initiative created by the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) and the Brazilian Plastic Institute (INP) for the internationalization of the converted plastics sector —, the company represented Brazilian innovation alongside 16 other companies from the sector.
At the trade show, the company presented monomaterial flexible packaging solutions in various formats (such as large bags, stand-up pouches, and flat bottom bags), focusing on the pet food market. The portfolio includes diverse formats with multiple accessories such as reinforced zippers and ergonomic handles, combining high barrier properties, convenience, and visual appeal, in addition to being aligned with circular economy principles.
According to Gustavo Graf, Commercial Manager at Mega Goglio, changes in consumer habits and regulatory standards have redefined the sector’s priorities. “Recyclability and packaging life cycle assessments are current global requirements. We deliver efficient, monomaterial structures that facilitate recycling without compromising product protection,” states the executive.
One driver of this change is the new European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), applicable since August 2026, which establishes progressive targets for recyclability and recycled content for packaging marketed within the European Union, making adaptation vital for global competitiveness.
Mindful of this scenario, Mega Goglio adopts ecodesign guidelines, such as those from CEFLEX and RecyClass, while expanding the use of post-consumer recycled (PCR) and post-industrial recycled (PIR) resins.
In the pet food segment, packaging must preserve flavor and nutrients, provide mechanical strength, and offer easy handling. Mega Goglio’s monomaterial solutions meet these requirements without sacrificing recyclability, bringing the industry closer to increasingly conscious consumers.
Internationalization and Global Presence
Participation in the show reinforces the brand’s international expansion plan, which grew following its merger with the Italian group Goglio, adding global infrastructure and more than 175 years of heritage to the Brazilian operation’s technical expertise. Furthermore, the recent acquisition of Cristal Embalagens — also a member of Think Plastic Brazil — represents a major strategic move in the market, strengthening synergies, expanding reach in the pet food and personal care segments, and boosting the company’s presence across Latin America and the United States.
For Carlos Moreira, Brazilian Plastic Institute Executive Director and Think Plastic Brazil CPO, this participation highlights the country’s leadership. “Mega Goglio’s presence reflects the maturity of our industry. The market is looking for partners who combine performance with circular economy commitments, strengthening Brazil’s image abroad,” he emphasizes.
