Above all, the second edition of the World Plastic Connection Summit was an experience of how the market awaited the return of events such as this one.

Deivson Althaus, Sales Executive at Canguru Plásticos, discussed how the current moment is one of recovery and restoration in several senses. “The market, however, is thirsty for actions such as this one by Think Plastic Brazil, which seek to stimulate the economic activity and improve the country’s trade balance,” he noted.

In this way, Althaus stresses that “participating in an event of the magnitude and importance of the Connection Summit makes us able to enjoy all the care with which every detail was planned and executed. It is a truly rewarding experience.”

The first edition of the event in face-to-face and online format “demonstrated the strength of the industrial segment of converted plastics,” noted the executive.

Canguru Plásticos won first place in the World Plastic Global Design Award for the company’s sustainable development in flexible plastic packaging, as well as third place in the World Plastic Certification Award.

According to Althaus, the awards are the result of an engaged and committed team that understands the importance of always delivering better results and impacting customers’ business in the best possible way.

Finally, the executive’s main expectation for the new year and the next edition of the event is to continue presenting innovative solutions to the market, focusing mainly on the topic of sustainability.

He concluded: “Consequently, being awarded with recognitions like these, of such relevance for the industry, is paramount.”

Sustainability and innovation for industry

With the topic of Innovation, Design and Sustainability, the 2022 World Plastic Connection Summit introduced important debates for the plastics segment and promoted key connections between industry members.

Bringing together major companies in the plastics industry, the 2nd World Plastic Connection Summit, an event promoted by Think Plastic Brazil, showed innovation and sustainability paths for the segment.

In fact, the lectures on innovation, design and sustainability were the highlights most mentioned by those who participated in the event.

One example comes from Waine Agostinho, International Sales Coordinator at Jaguar Plásticos.

According to him, the discussion on sustainability, innovation and design was important for the team to enable an understanding of the key aspects of each subject.

In turn, Roger Planas, Export Manager at Dello Indústria e Comércio, states that he learned a lot from the lectures. “Important content about our market and others were addressed. In addition, of course, we were able to get together with the main companies in the industry and exchange ideas about the market, trends, and customers.”

Furthermore, the business circles and the Buyer Project were also highlights of the event, and according to Agostinho, the Buyer Project made it possible to meet new customers and partners, as well as closing new partnerships.

The organization, quality of the lectures, quality of international buyers for the business roundtables and the Think Plastic Brazil team contributed to the success of the event, according to Planas.

Planas further states: “This is a crucial event, being able to unite the companies and enabling everyone to know that plastics are a very important raw material for the world.”

Debate and recognition on the importance of sustainability

The development of more sustainable practices in the industry was one of the measures devised by Think Plastic Brazil to introduce the debate in the plastics segment.

Therefore, in addition to the lectures on the subject, the event awarded companies that already feature sustainability in their business.

Such was the case with Lordtech, which was awarded the Business Case, in the technical category. “We won with our Eco Project, which promotes environmental sustainability and social inclusion in actions related to sustainable development,” explained the company’s Sustainability Analyst, Patrícia Azevedo.

In this way, Azevedo describes that “it is always of great importance to keep ourselves updated and to participate in fronts such as this one, driving research, development and recognition.”

Thus, with this recognition, the company expects to return to the next edition, participating and being acknowledged in more categories.

The industry and the return of face-to-face events

Like all events in the period, the first edition of the World Plastic Connection Summit took place online in 2021.

Nevertheless, with the return of face-to-face activities, events in this format have become crucial, mainly for exchanging knowledge and generating new business deals.

According to Planas da Dello, the market was missing events like the face-to-face edition of the World Plastic Connection Summit. “It is in person that you are able to get closer to companies and customers.”

For Agostinho, the face-to-face event offered a massive networking possibilities among participating companies and customers. “Never before has there been such synergy, which enabled us to get involved and build new partnerships.”

Also, in this sense, the expectation for the 2023 edition is the permanence of this format and the continuity of the good work carried out by Think Plastic Brazil.
